Children's Vision

Testing childrens' vision is especially important. Experts tell us that on in four children has an uncorrected vision problem that can interfere with learning. For this reason, our younger patients receive special attention. Regular examinations are encouraged for the early detection of vision problems that affect children's ability to be succesful in school.

The American Optometric Association recommends that children have their first examination by 6 months of age especially if  there is a history of strabismus (eye turn), amblyopia (lazy eye) or other eye disease. All children should have their first eye exam by age 3 and again before entering school.
