COVID-19 Update -- From Our MEC Family to Yours
We certainly hope this message finds you and yours well as we all navigate this pandemic. This last year and a half have been a whirlwind of unknowns, adaptation and change for us all. It has also been an exercise in patience and grace as we find the new normal. For many, it serves as a reminder of what is really important in life, and recognize what we take for granted. We have seen the best of humanity in times of crisis, and come together as a community in support of one another to rebuild.
We want to assure our patients that we are taking all recommended precautions seriously as far as patient care in our office to minimize any risk to patients or staff. Though you may see some temporary changes and adaptations to the way we do things, please understand that we are doing this to protect your health and safety. If your exam experience in the office runs a little slower or more complicated, we ask for patience and a little grace.
Our staff will be wearing masks, gloves and utilizing barrier shields on some of our instrumentation, screening our staff at the beginning of each day to ensure we keep you and your safety as a priority. Some of our testing will be adapted or suspended temporarily. Frames will be disinfected after you try them on before being placed back on the displays. Patient histories may be taken from your vehicle and we may ask you to fill out forms online and bring them with you to minimize time spent in the office. We will make sure you are able to socially distance away from other patients who are simultaneously in the office and we will limit the number of patients in the office at any given time. We will be spacing out exam slots on the schedule until we find our new rhythm.
Per the CDC and the Kansas State Board of Optometry, we will continue to REQUIRE all patients to bring and wear a facial mask at all times in our office, even if you have already had COVID or have been vaccinated. Your mask may be a disposable surgical mask, homemade cloth or even an N95 if that’s your fashion. We will ask you to minimize your touch and respect social distancing as much as possible while in the practice.
If you or anyone in your household have been sick or exhibiting flu-like symptoms such as fever, dry cough, loss of taste or smell, achy joints or have been exposed to COVID-19, please reschedule your appointment as we will be unable to see you until you and your household are well. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this together.
Small businesses in our community need your support in the days ahead more than ever before, so we thank you in advance for your loyalty and for your patronage. We are always here for your needs and appreciate your thoughtful referrals and trust in us with those you know and love. So give us a call, tell a friend and give us reasons to do happy dances in our new masks!
See you soon!
