Annual Eye Examination
Regardless of your age or physical health, it’s important to have regular eye exams. During a complete eye exam, your Mission EyeCare doctor will not only determine your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses, but will also check your eyes for common eye diseases, assess how your eyes work together as a team and evaluate your eyes as an indicator of your overall health. Eye care experts recommend you have a complete eye exam with an eye doctor every year to assess your risk for potentially damaging eye conditions, as well as to keep on top of any changes in vision you may be experiencing.

Pediatric Eyecare
According to experts, 80% of learning is visual, which means that if your child is having difficulty seeing clearly, his or her learning can be affected. This also goes for infants who develop and learn through their sense of sight. According to the American Optometric Association (AOA) children should have their eyes examined by an eye doctor at 6 months, 3 years, at the start of school, and then at least every 2 years following. If there are any signs that there may be a vision problem or if the child has certain risk factors (such as developmental delays, premature birth, crossed or lazy eyes, family history or previous injuries) more frequent exams are recommended. A child that wears eyeglasses or contact lenses should have his or her eyes examined yearly, as their eyes can change rapidly as they grow.

Specialty Contact Lenses
It is not uncommon for patients to have difficulty wearing contact lenses for a number of reasons. Due to the individual eye shape, certain eye conditions or impairments, or poor results of surgery, some patients may require specialty contact lenses, such as semi-sclerals, rigid-gas permeables, or hybrids. You may be a candidate for specialty lenses if you have one of the following conditions:

LASIK & Refractive Surgery
The doctors at our Eye Care Clinic have extensive experience in the pre-operative evaluation and post-operative care of LASIK and other vision correction procedures. LASIK is currently the most popular vision-correcting or “refractive” surgery available. But there are other options as well. We will help you find the ideal solution for your problem and partner with the best surgeon to perform your procedure. Why is it so popular? LASIK has advantages over other vision correction procedures, including a relative lack of pain afterward and the fact that good vision usually is achieved by the very next day.

Sports & Specialty Eyewear
If you are serious about your sport or require specialty eyewear for your job or hobby, it’s worth scheduling a specialty eyewear fitting with your eye doctor. In addition to safety and eye protection, top athletic and occupational performance requires optimal visual acuity as well as a number of other visual functions such as peripheral vision, depth perception and hand-eye coordination. Sometimes color vision, eye tracking, night vision and light adaptation are also critical to performance. Your eye doctor will be able to do a full assessment of your vision while understanding your personal vision needs in order to recommend the best possible eyewear solution for you.

Insurance Plans
A vision insurance policy is not the same as health insurance. Regular health insurance plans protect you against financial losses due to unexpected eye injuries or disease. Vision insurance, on the other hand, is a wellness benefit designed to provide routine eye care, prescription eyewear and other vision-related services at a reduced cost. Because we provide both medical and routine eye care, we accept a number of insurance plans to help cover the cost depending on your individual needs.
Vision Insurance Plans Accepted
Davis Vision, EyeMed, Spectera, Superior, & VSP
Medical Insurance Plans Accepted
Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Coventry, Humana, Medicare, Kansas Medicaid, United HealthCare
